THRILLER “HUFF” BLOWS AWAY HORROR FANS AT TEXAS FRIGHTMARE WEEKEND
DALLAS, TX (May6, 2012)—Screening for a packed house of more than 600 eager horror fans Saturday evening at the Texas Frightmare Weekend fan convention, the much anticipated HUFFindependent feature film proved to live up to the hype and then some.
“He huffed and he puffed and blew me away,” says audience member and aspiring filmmaker Jeremy Mitchell.
Dallas resident Holt Thomas described it as “disturbing” and “freaky.” His conclusion: “It was awesome!”
HUFF, a twisted adaptation of the classic bedtime story “The Three Little Pigs,” stars Charlie O’Connell (“The Bachelor” Season 7) as asexually abusive stepfather (the “wolf”) who embarks on a rage-induced killing spree as he pursues his three stepdaughters (the “three piggies”) who have run away with his money.
“There wasn’t a seat open,” observed O’Connell. “People were standing in the aisles. It felt great!”
“When you make a film, you don’t quite know how [audience members] are going to react,” says Clint Howard (Apollo 13, Evilspeak)who makes a cameo appearance in the film. “And when the first laugh comes, and the first shudder happens, you know it’s working.”
Early reviews indicate that film critics agree with fans. Larry Richman of Indie Film Spotlight gives HUFF four stars. “Huff will blow you away!”
Critics especially lauded O’Connell’s breakout performance as the terrifying villain. Scott Shoyer of AnythingHorror.com described it as “one of the most brutal, savage, and powerful performances I’ve seen in a long time.” And Nic Brown of BmovieMan.com proclaims, “O’Connell definitely steals the show.”
HUFF is scheduled to screen next at Philadelphia Comic Con on June 1, 2012 as part of an exclusive double feature with Paramount’s Australian-made slasher pic,The Love Ones.
