Lucky Number Slevin

Lucky Number Slevin Movie Review Sundance Film Festival "Lucky Number Slevin" by Zack Roddy

Directed by Paul McGuigan and written by Jason Smilovic, Lucky Number Slevin stars Josh Hartnett, Lucy Liu, Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley, and Bruce Willis. Slevin (Hartnett) is not a lucky guy. When he takes a trip to New York to visit his friend Nick, he is mugged, and his wallet is stolen. When he gets to Nick's apartment, he meets Nick's cute neighbor, Lindsey (Liu), and the two strike up a conversation, each attracted to the other. So when Slevin hears a knock on the door, he naturally expects it to be Lindsey, but what he finds are two messengers who break Slevin's nose and take him to the Boss (Freeman) who believes Slevin is Nick, and that Slevin owes him thirty three thousand dollars. The Boss offers Slevin a choice: die, or kill the son of his archenemy, The Rabbi (Kinglsey). Slevin decides on murder, and wonders, just what kind of trouble is Nick in? Meanwhile, the mysterious Mr. Goodkat (Willis) has wandered back into town, and The Boss has hired him to kill Slevin if Slevin succeeds in killing The Rabbi's son.

Lucky Number Slevin is a fast paced thriller, with new revelations at every turn. Director Paul McGuigan was blessed with an extremely talented cast and writer, and the camera work was crisp and gritty, giving the film an extra hard edge. If you are looking for and excellent thriller, see Lucky Number Slevin, for it will not dissapoint.
