Teeth Movie and Film Review Sundance Film Festival "Teeth" by Zack Roddy

Dawn (Jess Weixler) is a paradigm of chastity. She is beautiful, refuses all forms of sex, and spends weekends preaching to smaller children about how they should be taking their sacred vow of virginity. She is a straight A high school student, and she is adored by her family. Except for perhaps her stepbrother, Brad (Nip Tuck's John Hensley), who has hated and desired Dawn since they were little. When Dawn meets Tobey (Hale Appleman), a fellow student at her school, it is love at first sight. Tobey is handsome, smart, a good Christian, and a virgin as well. But when Tobey attempts to rape Dawn, she discovers a hidden a hidden weapon within herself that robs Tobey of his manhood.for life. Now in control of this new bodily function, Dawn uses it against male predators, and she may just be after Brad next.

Written and directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein, Teeth a hilarious satire on protecting virginity and what it means to be a "good" Christian. Lichtenstein pushes the envelope where not many other writer directors would, and even though you can tell the film is very low budget, he still garners great performances from his cast, especially Jess Weixler as the virginal and lethal Dawn. The end result is a mad-cap horror/comedy that leaves the audience laughing and recoiling at the same time.
